A debit card is a powerful learning tool for your student. In addition to the obvious benefits of a debit card like convenience, independence and security, debit cards can help you teach four important life skills.

I am often asked by my students and parents when is the right time to get a debit card.

When deciding whether your student is ready for a debit card, consider whether they have reached an age where they are asking for privileges associated with growing up. As they mature, it's important to help them understand the link between privilege and responsibility. If they are looking for privileges, it is time for them to pick up responsibilities as well.
