As I was looking for a good "expert" quote on chores, here is a funny one I found. This should remind you that your children are more capable than you (or even they) know:
"If an eight-year-old in pioneer times could chop firewood, yours can certainly put his/her underwear in a drawer."
Now is the time to give them responsibility. The earlier you start, the more natural it will seem. Don't wait until they are an eye-rolling, hormone laden teen with lots of school work.
Below is a link to a list of responsibilities your child can handle at every stage of their time at home. But before you download the list, I want to remind you of why we are having our children do these tasks:
1. | These tasks will give your child a sense of accomplishment and pride. |
2. | These tasks will help your child feel like they are a valued part of the family. |
3. | These tasks should take something off your plate. |
