So often our teens don't make wise choices for their Future Selves because their Future Self is a stranger to them. In contrast, their Current Self is all too real and has very immediate demands.

As hard as it may be to sit and listen, it is important for your teens and other family members to be heard. If your teen dreams of buying a Ferrari with their first paycheck, just smile and tell them about your teenage dreams. Better yet, prepare to be laughed at when you show them a picture of the first car you bought for yourself.
